The Mathematics Institute at Polytechnic Institute of NYU gives high-school students real-world, problem-solving experience with an emphasis on pure and applied mathematics. Students will build their skills in Number Theory, Geometry, and Elementary Analysis. Pre-calculus and calculus, taught in small classes, is designed to
prepare students for the rigor of college study.
Additionally, students will receive a grant from the University which will permit them to apply the tuition paid for these courses to tuition costs during their freshman year at Polytechnic. Thus for the successful student the cost for enrolling in the College Math and SAT Prep Program may be zero.
Polytechnic Institute of NYU professors teach these essential courses using state-of-the-art equipment and software such as IBM ThinkPad and MATLAB software (a professional tool that allows students to combine mathematics and computer programming).
Participating students who experience a high degree of success will be encouraged to take additional college preview courses. Mathematics will be covered in the morning sessions and will be followed by an SAT Preparatory component in the afternoon.
