Markell Lambright
Electrical Engineering
Markell Lambright is what you might call a Renaissance man. During the day, he poses as a mild-mannered network engineer at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. But at night, he shakes off the shirt and tie to become "DJ Digital," mixing music with two computers, some ingenious custom-designed software and a couple of hard drives filled with MP3s.
Music is just one of the products offered by Nvidius, an emerging technology and entertainment company founded by Lambright and his fellow NYU-Poly alums. Nvidius grew out of camaraderie from Polytechnic's National Society of Black Engineers. Lambright was the student-chapter president at Poly, and envisioned Nvidius while brainstorming entrepreneurial ideas. The result is a service-oriented company that secures venues, handles promotions, and creates atmosphere with both visual effects and music.
"We wanted to integrate technology with entertainment," says Lambright, who describes his company as a kind of one-stop shop for party throwers. "Polytechnic's interdisciplinary culture enabled me to learn the ins and outs of both worlds."
