History of Science Intense specialization has further heightened the need for understanding among various branches of science and the humanities. In considering ideas, time, process, transfer and social changes in the history of science, students are able to explore the elusive connections that exist between science and engineering and the social sciences and humanities. Prospective teachers of science and engineering subjects are able to increase their effectiveness through knowledge of the history of their own and related disciplines. NYU-Poly's libraries contain many important and rare works on the history of science, which may be used for original research.
