Biomedical Engineering The Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering program provides students with an in-depth, and advanced education that integrates engineering with biological and medical sciences. In the years ahead, health and human productivity can be vastly improved through major advances in medicine. There is an increasing need for skilled professionals to continue creating the technological innovations that will provide people with longer, healthier, and more productive lives.By merging the leadership and talents found at NYU-Poly in chemistry, engineering and computer science with the expertise in biomedical sciences at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center, the University is well positioned to offer a cutting-edge program with a broad range of opportunities to its students. The partnership between NYU-Poly and SUNY Downstate is dedicated to this new mode of biomedical education, and to the development of students with both practical and fundamental knowledge. The goal of the entire program is to provide students with the best in-classroom education and hands-on experience to succeed upon graduation. Students may choose to study full-time, earning their degree faster taking a full course load, or study part-time if they are working professionals. The curriculum has been constructed to accommodate both part-time and full-time students, and most of the 3-credit courses are offered as two-and-a-half hour lectures one evening per week. Evening research opportunities are also available.
