Getting Started/First Year Student Resources

Welcome to the NYU-Poly family! Sending a child off to college is a big accomplishment for both student and parent. Please use the links below to help prepare your child for their first semester at Poly.

Student Academic Information

As a result of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), access to student academic records requires permission of the student. NYU-Poly is prohibited from releasing certain information to parents without the permission of the student.

As grades are a part of the academic record of the student,the student will need to provide copies to their parents.

Breaks, Holidays, Closures, University Schedule

The NYU-Poly Academic Calendar lists all Institute holidays, class schedule, exams and registration periods. Note that classes are scheduled as usual the day before holiday breaks, however some NYU-Poly offices may close at 4pm. The Institute only closes on specific holidays and is open for business during the summer, part of the Winter Recess and Fall and Spring Breaks.

A special note for helping your student plan their trip home – exam times are provided for classes, but actual exam times are determined and finalized by the professor. Students should ALWAYS refer to their course syllabus or talk to their professor for exact timing before scheduling trips home. The NYU-Poly Events Calendar lists special activities, talks and other events happening on and off campus.
