Q. How do I apply to HEOP using The Common Application?

A. In order to be considered for HEOP, you must check the box stating that you are requesting “Need-Based Financial Aid.”

Q. I received a letter stating that I am conditionally accepted to the HEOP program, does this mean that I am in the program?

A. The conditional acceptance letter means that Admissions considers you as a possible HEOP candidate. All applicants must first go through a phone assessment and interview process before we can determine whether you are eligible for the program.

Q. Can I apply to HEOP directly?

A. No, all applications must be processed through the Admissions Office.

Q. Can I apply to HEOP as a graduate student?

A. The HEOP program at NYU-Poly is only open to incoming undergraduate freshmen.

Q. I am already a student at NYU-Poly, is it possible for me to transfer into the HEOP program?

A. No, admission to HEOP is only available to students entering college for the first time who have completed the HEOP summer program.

Q. I heard that there is a summer program for incoming HEOP students, is it mandatory?

A. Yes, the HEOP Summer Program is mandatory. It is designed to help incoming freshmen go through the transition period from high school to college and develop a strong academic foundation.

Q. Does HEOP cover all of my educational and personal expenses?

A. No, HEOP covers a significant portion of eligible students’ educational expenses. It is important that students complete the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) applications as early as possible. Student loans are required to supplement financial aid packages.
