8 courses from the Science, Technology, and Society (STS) cluster of Humanities and Social Sciences courses, excluding those taken to fulfill the Core Requirement above. These courses include the STS-prefixed courses as well as those listed under the STS Cluster for the Department of Technology, Culture and Society.
Any combination of courses that adds up to 18 credits fulfills this requirement. Some students use these credits to study a foreign language through our affiliation with NYU, others take additional courses in science at NYU-Poly, and now students can use free electives to take advantage of one of the cross-school minors.
This minor is open to all majors and is composed of 15 credits consisting of:
You may obtain a second major in STS by fulfilling the Technology/Science Requirement for the STS major with the courses from your other major. You may also substitute the STS Cluster Requirement for the 6 General Education HuSS electives beyond the freshman year that are required of all NYU-Poly students. You must also complete the STS Core Requirement in order to earn the double major.
