Our students have the freedom to pursue varied and exciting careers. Graduates can become software designers, biostatisticians, and industrial engineers. They can also excel as imaging scientists, aerospace mathematicians, and economists. Today, mathematicians find employment in a wide range of companies, including investment banks and government organizations, such as the National Security Agency.
You must have a bachelor’s degrees in mathematics for admission to this program. Students with degrees in other fields may be admitted; those with undergraduate deficiencies may be admitted at the discretion of departmental advisers. Before beginning graduate studies, you are expected to have completed a 1-year course in advanced calculus. Outstanding students are advised to apply for research fellowships, teaching fellowships, or partial tuition remission.
