Students who have completed graduate work at other schools may transfer up to 3 courses (9 credits) towards the MS degree. A student can request this action only after completing 9 credits of NYU-Poly courses in the current degree program with a B average. A course is acceptable for transfer provided 1) the course was not used to satisfy the graduation requirements for any undergraduate degress; 2) a grade of B or above was received, 3) a corresponding NYU-Poly course acceptable to the current MS degree program can be identified. Theses, projects and guided studies or readings courses cannot be transferred.
Transferred courses may not be used to satisfy the core-course requirements for respective MS programs. However, with the program adviser approval, a student who has taken a course with content similar to a core course at another university may use a Poly course that requires the core course as a prerequisite to satisfy the core course requirement.
Note that the grades associated with transferred courses are not included in calculating the GPA needed to earn an MS degree.
