Scientists working at the interface between biology and chemistry cause big changes today while studying and modifying on very small scale — the cellular and molecular in particular. Gene modification allows them to feed quickly growing populations, while novel therapies, such as polymer therapeutics, extend life. Biomolecular scientists also address ecological issues. Working to produce cheap energy from renewable sources, some are trying to wring oil from algae, while others are cleaning the environment through bioremediation.
Our BS program in Biomolecular Science puts you in line with their efforts to improve the world. The first 2 years of the program focus on core courses so you have a solid foundation in the science fundamentals — math, physics, chemistry, and biology. From there, you can concentrate your studies in biomedical science, biotechnology, or chemistry.
