The Morton L. Topfer Chair was created by the most generous gift of Morton L. Topfer in 2000 of $2.5 million dollars. This Endowed and Distinguished Chair operates in the field of management with emphasis in technology management.
Morton L. Topfer is a renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist. Dr. Topfer pursued graduate level studies in physics at Polytechnic and was awarded an honorary Doctor in Engineering degree in 2002.
Morton L. Topfer has been a Director since January 2002 and was appointed Chairman of the Board effective January 31, 2003. Mr. Topfer is Managing Director of Castletop Capital, L.P., an investment firm. He previously served at Dell, Inc., a global systems and services company, as Counselor to the Chief Executive Officer, from December 1999 to February 2002, and Vice Chairman, from June 1994 to December 1999. Mr. Topfer was a member of the Board of Directors of Dell from December 1999 to July 2004. Prior to joining Dell, Mr. Topfer served for 23 years at Motorola, Inc., where he held several executive positions, last serving as Corporate Executive Vice President and President of the Land Mobile Products Sector. Mr. Topfer was conferred the Darjah Johan Negeri Penang State Award in July 1996 by the Governor of Penang for contributions to the development of the electronics industry in Malaysia. Mr. Topfer also serves as a director for Staktek Technologies and Advanced Micro Devices.

Dr. Charles S. Tapiero, is the Morton L. Topfer Chair and Distinguished Professor of Financial Engineering and Technology Management at the Polytechnic Institute of NYU of New York. He is an active researcher and consultant in Risk, Technology, Computational Economics, Industry, Environment and Financial Risk Management. He is currently the area editor for Finance in the journal of Applied Stochastic Models for Business and Industry as well as a member of Editorial Boards of a number of journals. Professor Tapiero has published 12 Books and Over three hundreds papers on a broad range of issues spanning risk management, stochastic modeling and applied stochastic control in technology, operations, insurance and finance His most recent books include "Applied Stochastic Models and Control in Finance and Insurance, Kluwer Academic Press, April 1998" and "Risk and Financial Management: Mathematical and Computational Methods”, March 2004, John Wiley. The current research interests of Professor Tapiero span the many themes of risk mathematics, finance, insurance, the environment and operations and services technology.
